ARIF AHMETASEVIC HUMANIST OF THE YEAR At the Tuzla's Gate he lost his daughter but not belief in people. At the presentation ceremony of the highest humanistic award in Tuzla Mr. Arif Ahmetašević was proclaimed as the Humanist of the Year. He was awarded Golden Charter of Peace «Linus Pauling» with Plaque and Golden Badge of International League of Humanists which was presented by H.E. Henrik Ofstad, Norwegian Ambassador in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Ambassador Ofstad had also presented the collective special award Golden Charter of Peace «Linus Pauling» with Plaque and Golden Badge of International League of Humanists to the families of the innocent victims at the Tuzla’s Gate on May 25th, 1995. This Award, on behalf of the victim’s families had received the Mayor of Tuzla, Mr. Jasmin Imamović. The nomination for this high humanistic award had started from Mr. Miso Bozic, President and one of the founders of Serb’s Citizen Council of Tuzla Region. Mr. Bozic initiative to Mr. Arif Ahmetasevic is given this award started after his TV statement that he as a solider of B&H Army was many times in situation to revenge his daughter over Serb soldiers but he never did that, because he knew that they are not singularly responsible for the death of his daughter Edina. “I am one of thousand Bosnian parents who have lost a child and surely the only one wounded parent, who did not reach for hatred and revenge. If any case I did that, I would desecrate the parental love and holiness of the victim, my daughter Edina”, Mr. Arif Ahmetasevic said after receiving the award. The leader of Serb’s Citizen Council remembered the day when the youth of Tuzla had died at the gate on May 25th, 1995, when a shell fired from Ozren had treacherously killed youngsters from Tuzla. |
